Postdoc, Biological Engineering, Lauffenburger Lab
Annelien joined MIT BE in 2014 as a postdoc in the lab of Doug Lauffenburger. She studies mechanisms of drug resistance and cell migration in cancer, focusing on the role of cell-cell communication between dying tumor cells and surviving tumor cells in these processes. She was born and raised in the Netherlands, where she completed her (under)graduate studies at Leiden University in the fields of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacology. Since the age of 16 she has been working as a teacher and mentor for several programs at high school and university, and she is eager to extend her experience as a BE Comm Lab fellow here at MIT. Besides that, she aims to explore as many states and National Parks as possible during her stay in the US.
