Dave VanInsberghe is a Microbiology PhD student in the Polz lab, where he studies how the opportunistic pathogen Clostridium difficile responds to disturbances in the gut. Originally from Canada, he received a BSc from the University of British Columbia in Microbiology and Immunology and started his career in science studying the ecology of forest soil. Dave has a passion for writing and graphic design. Outside MIT, he likes gardening, woodworking, and learning about the history of spaceflight.
