Communication Fellow Alum
Sean started his PhD in the MIT Department of Biological Engineering in Fall 2013. He graduated from Purdue University where he studied Mathematics, Statistics, and Biological Engineering. His undergraduate adviser emphasized the importance of writing well, encouraging him to engage in extracurricular writing activities. As a member of the Purdue iGEM team for four years, he was exposed to an enormous variety of scientific communication styles. Currently, Sean works in Eric Alm’s lab to discover the principles underlying the evolution and organization of microbial communities. In his free time, Sean enjoys dodging buses while biking the streets of Cambridge, advocating for animal welfare, falling off rock walls, and fermenting vegetables and sugary liquids.
