Ben is a former graduate student, now postdoc, in Greg Stephanopoulos’ lab. He uses metabolic engineering to reprogram microbes to make renewable fuels and chemicals from alternative feedstocks like methanol and synthesis gas. Ben is originally from the UK, but has been living in the US for 16 years. He went to Penn State for his undergraduate, and there found a passion for peer coaching, which he is excited to bring to the Communication Lab. Outside the lab, Ben enjoys competitive cycling, triathlon, and tennis.
