Bishal Thapa is a PhD student in Professor Chris Voigt’s lab in the Department of Biological Engineering at MIT. At Voigt Lab, he is developing high-throughput tools for fungal engineering. Born and raised in Nepal, he moved to Moscow, a small college town in Idaho, where he completed his undergraduate degree in Biological Engineering and Agricultural Education from the University of Idaho. He is passionate about scientific storytelling, especially using visual communication and graphic design. His experience as a high school teacher has helped him develop skills to personalize content for audiences from different backgrounds. Outside the lab, Bishal enjoys watching movies, nature walking and cooking.
