Comm Fellow 2019-2022
Bryson Lab, BE, Ragon

Cal is a PhD student in Bryan Bryson’s lab studying how common drugs can be repurposed to help the body fight off tuberculosis infection. They graduated from the University of Washington in 2017 with a degree in bioengineering. Cal is passionate about creative storytelling inside and outside the sciences and recently co-authored a graphic novel about a fungal disease that nearly wiped out the world’s banana supply.

As a former resident of Sweden and Seattle and a current Boston resident, they are now immune to all forms of weather and can be found wearing seasonally inappropriate attire year-round. In their spare time, Cal enjoys making clothes, taking long walks around Jamaica Pond, and learning new skills.
