Pallavi is a Biological Engineering PhD student in the Birnbaum Lab, where she studies immune recognition in autoimmune diseases. She grew up in Bangalore, India, and received a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Boston University. Having worked in several interdisciplinary environments for research, teaching and outreach, she appreciates the value of thoughtful scientific communication. She is particularly passionate about designing scientific figures and enjoys seeing scribbled sketches on whiteboards turn into figure panels for posters and presentations. She is excited to help others communicate their science by using the kind of encouraging and positive mentorship that she received from her own mentors. In her free time, she can be found playing the piano and convincing her long-suffering friends to sing along.
