4th year graduate student
Hansen Lab, BE

Sarah is a Biological Engineering PhD student and NSF GRFP Fellow in the Hansen Lab studying gene regulation and transcriptional bursting of bidirectional promoters. She grew up in Maryland but came to Boston in 2016 to study Biomedical Engineering at Boston University and loved the city so much that she decided to stay for her PhD. Sarah has a wide range of communications experience including STEM outreach and iGEM. She’s particularly fond of scientific writing, research presentations, and figure design, and strives for a clean, clear communication style.

Outside of the lab, Sarah loves to watch horror movies, try new restaurants, and hang out with her cat Pumpernickel.
