Jesse Hinricher, Communication Fellow

Communication Fellow
6th year DMSE graduate student, Rupp Lab

Jesse is a Ph.D. student in Materials Science and Engineering passionate about energy storage systems. Originally from Pipestone, Minnesota, he received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from MIT in 2019, conducting research in Professor Brushett’s Lab on redox flow batteries, a large-scale energy storage technology. In his PhD Professor Rupp’s Lab in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, he is continuing his work with batteries by investigating low-cost routes to synthesize ceramic solid-state electrolytes. Professor Rupp moved the lab to the Technical University of Munich in Munich, Germany, where Jesse is currently located (6 hours ahead of Boston time). As an undergraduate, Jesse earned extensive experience using the ChemE Comm Lab where he was inspired by the high quality of coaching to become a Comm Lab Fellow. The coaching Jesse received directly contributed to his being awarded several fellowships including the NSF GRFP and the MITEI Energy Fellowship. Currently, Jesse is a Materials Science and Engineering Comm Lab Fellow sponsored by the Department of Chemical Engineering. Jesse is available to take appointments upon request in addition to the online calendar reservations; to do so, please email him at jhinrich[at]mit.edu.
