Lisa was a Ph.D. student in Chemical Engineering in Kristala Prather’s lab, where she worked on sustainable microbial production of high-value biochemicals.  Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, she received dual degrees in Chemical Engineering and Economics from the University of Arizona while enjoying “winter” weather in Tucson.  At MIT, Lisa was an NSF Fellow and a Trainee in MIT’s NIH-sponsored Biotechnology Training Program (BTP).  She also served as a TA for Analysis of Transport Phenomena (10.50) in Fall 2015.  Outside of lab, Lisa is active with the Science Policy Initiative (SPI) student group and the Graduate Student Council (GSC), which allow her to explore her interests in biotechnology policy and STEM education, engage with policymakers, and work with stakeholders across the Institute to improve the graduate student experience.  Her hobbies include napping, baking, gardening, exploring Boston’s historical sites, and keeping up with the news.
