Maya Chattoraj, Communication Fellow

Communication Fellow
3rd year Chemistry graduate student, Tisdale Lab

Maya is a Ph.D. student in Physical Chemistry advised by Will Tisdale. Maya grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and attended University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, graduating in 2022 with a B.S. in Chemistry. As an undergraduate researcher under Prashant Jain, Maya studied plasmonic and electrochemical CO2 reduction using noble metal nanoparticle catalysts. Throughout her experience in the Jain lab, she came to recognize the importance of being able to explain a niche scientific topic to a broad audience. At MIT, Maya leverages nanomaterial synthesis and ultrafast spectroscopy to understand energy transfer in low‑dimensional lead halide perovskites. As a Comm Lab fellow, Maya is excited to help her peers effectively communicate their work to audiences outside of their field. In her free time, Maya enjoys going to the gym, cooking, reading, and painting.
