Spencer Zhu, Communication Fellow

Communication Fellow
6th year graduate student, Niroui and Tisdale Labs

Spencer is a Chemical Engineering PhD student co-advised by Farnaz Niroui (EECS) and Will Tisdale. He is working to engineer a broadly applicable technique to precisely position and integrate materials in the sub-100 nm scale that could mass produce “perfect” nanodevices of any shape with superior electronic and optical properties. He obtained his bachelor dual degrees in Chemical Engineering and Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he worked on various projects from plasma-material interaction to solution processed conjugated-polymers. Out of the many communication mediums, he is especially passionate about designing effective visual communication. Spencer dedicates his non-research time into developing his visual languages as well as other hobbies such as figure skating and meditation.
