Having done research on three different continents, Martin is interested in cross-cultural scientific communication
Martin comes to MIT and the Broad by way of Australia, Germany, and Switzerland. He grew up in Sydney, Australia where he did a Bachelor of Science majoring in Nanotechnology. Martin then made the switch into biology by jumping into a PhD in Dresden, Germany, where his research focused on cell mechanics and cell shape. After his lab relocated to ETH Zurich in Basel Switzerland, he graduated in 2012. Now as a postdoc in the Jensen and Langer Labs, his research interests center around mechanisms of intracellular delivery and the cellular response. Outside of science, Martin enjoys electronic music, traveling to tropical destinations, and yoga. He is passionate about science communication and believes that clear and engaging communication is key.
