Interactive Robots Group: human-robot collaboration and autonomous robotics
Annabel Gomez is a PhD student in the MIT Interactive Robotics group. Her research lies in robotics, more specifically, in autonomous robotics and human-robot collaboration. She was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Caltech in 2023. In addition to her research at MIT, she interned and conducted research at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for over three years. Some of the projects she worked on included sampling and caching for the Mars 2020 mission, developing autonomous architectures for the Endurance Lunar Rover, and force estimations for the Mars InSight Lander robotic arm. As a CommLab Fellow, Annabel uses her skills and experience to coach her peers on how to successfully share their innovative ideas and research findings through effective technical and public communication. When not in the lab, Annabel enjoys painting, watching movies, and exploring new cafes around Boston to enjoy a good read.
