STAR Lab: developing self-pointing satellite for target prioritization and planning
Mary Dahl is a PhD student in STAR Lab. She has been at MIT since her undergraduate, exploring different areas of aerospace engineering, culminating in her UROP-turned-Master’s thesis on robots assembling small satellites. Her PhD is focused on improving data collection onboard Earth observing satellites by utilizing path planning and autonomous decision-making to make satellites able to point at priority targets themselves. Outside of the lab, she has been involved in different leadership positions, such as on GA^3 and QuASAR, as well as teaching high school students. Mary also has a penchant for storytelling through theater (on and behind the stage), tabletop roleplaying games, and creative writing.
