Communication Fellow 2025-2026
Josh Pollock is a 6th year PhD student in the Visualization Group advised by Arvind Satyanarayan. He draws on his expertise in human-computer interaction and programming languages to build visualization libraries for charts and diagrams.
Josh is passionate about guiding people towards their unique voice and expressing it unapologetically. He coaches clients holistically, addressing both mental and emotional hurdles to effective communication.
Before joining MIT, Josh studied math and computer science at the University of Washington where he hung around the PLSE lab researching programming languages. There he learned the clarifying power of a good formalism, which he applies to both his research and his research communication. Josh balances his formal work with intuitive and relational hobbies like singing circles, postmodern dance, and yoga.
