Lucas is a fifth-year graduate student in the Advanced Telecommunications and Signal Processing Group within RLE in the EECS department, under Professor Jae Lim. Lucas works in image processing, and is currently interested in transform and quantizer design for video compression. Lucas is originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He started his undergraduate studies at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, but transferred and concluded his studies in electrical and computer engineering at Cornell University. At MIT, he has served twice as a TA for 6.344, image processing. When not in lab, he often may be found reading fiction and mathematics, or running along the Charles.
