Bianca Champenois,

Bianca is a PhD candidate in the SAND Lab (Stochastic Analysis and Nonlinear Dynamics). Before coming to MIT, she earned her Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering at UC Berkeley. She discovered a love for fluid dynamics in California while throwing ultimate frisbee discs in the wind, drafting behind friends on long bike rides, and surfing the breaks of the Pacific ocean. She now works on applying machine learning to computational fluid dynamics with the goal of developing new methods to model the ocean and atmosphere for environmental monitoring, system design, and real-time decision-making under uncertainty. Bianca is passionate about science communication in the context of climate change, teaching, and social justice.
