David joined MIT in 2018 as a postdoctoral associate in the Mechanical Engineering department after receiving his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Monash University in Australia. Working with Prof. Rohit Karnik, He is now developing new strategies to make functioning membranes, aka filters out of atomically thin crystals a reality – a technology promises to deliver 10x more energy-efficient bio/chemical separation for a wide range of natural resources and energy industries. David is fascinated about communication among scientists as well as scientific publishing of all kinds. He pitches story ideas and writes articles to science news outlet every now and then.
