Mechanical Engineering
John McCullough is a PhD candidate in the Biomechatronics Group at the MIT Media lab led by Prof. Hugh Herr. His research focuses on designing lightweight powered knee and powered ankle prostheses for individuals with lower-limb amputation.
John earned a B.S in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2023, where he designed an orthopaedic implant with compliant mechanisms.
John is excited to help researchers concisely and clearly communicate their ideas to different audiences. He is especially thrilled to help undergraduates with their graduate school applications. Outside the lab, John can be found rock climbing, running, playing soccer, and coaching a boys highschool soccer team.
