Comm Lab Fellow
Shomik is a graduate student in Mechanical Engineering working in the Atomistic Simulation and Energy research group. In his research, he works on the design of high-temperature systems for energy conversion, including thermal energy storage and hydrogen combustion.
Originally from Houston, TX, Shomik obtained a BSE in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University and MPhils in Materials Science from the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London. He worked on high-efficiency electric vehicles and computational design of solar devices at these universities.
He is passionate about helping researchers clearly communicate their novel ideas to the relevant stakeholders, a concept that is increasingly important for climate technology. Outside of work, Shomik is involved with GAME and the MIT Energy and Climate Club, plays Indian classical percussion, and enjoys basketball and badminton.
