Senior Science Writer for David Liu, Science Communication Instructor (2021 & 2022) for Broad Summer Research Program (BSRP), Neuroscientist, and Freelance Science Writer.
Anahita is Senior Science Writer for David Liu’s lab group, providing a full range of editorial support to the Liu group on research manuscripts, grant proposals, and oral presentations. She is also a Science Communication Instructor for the Broad Summer Research Program (BSRP 2021 and 2022), and freelance science writer/editor. Prior to becoming a Broadie, Anahita completed her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) and her postdoctoral training at Boston University (BU). As a graduate student and postdoc, she spent many hours reading papers and shooting laser beams of light into mouse brains (investigating the neural mechanisms of memory formation and retrieval). She has written for a range of academic institutes, scientific societies, non-profit organizations and startups such as the Kavli Institute of Systems Neuroscience (KISN), Society for Neuroscience (SfN), the Association of Women in Science (AWIS), the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, and Maze Engineers. While she enjoys the challenge of massaging overly complicated academic sentences into clarity, her greatest sense of joy as a science writer comes from empowering trainees to discover their own voice as scholars. She is delighted to serve the Broad research community as a Broad CommLab Fellow.
