Adria Peterkin is a Ph.D. candidate whose research is focused on radiation-induced corrosion in molten fluoride salt for fission and fusion applications. Adria holds a Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from UC Berkeley and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Howard University. Previously, Adria worked as a nuclear engineer at General Electric – Nuclear Energy and as a graduate fellow at the National Nuclear Security Administration. Adria’s science communication background includes assisting students with personal statements, curating workshops, designing presentations, and giving talks to different audiences. In addition to this work, she is a recipient of the MIT RISE (Recognizing Individuals Supporting Equity) award for her work in founding and leading The CRWN (Creative Regal Women of kNowledge), an Office of Minority Education program for undergraduate women of color. Beyond academia, Adria enjoys reading, hiking, and exploring new cities.
