Anza Mitchell joined the Nuclear Science and Engineering Communication Lab in January 2025 as the Communication Lab Manager and Lecturer. In this role, she supports students in developing their communication skills to effectively present their research to diverse audiences with varying levels of technical understanding.

Prior to this role, Anza served as the Assistant Director for STEM Pedagogy at Harvard’s Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning, where she mentored pedagogy fellows who guided graduate teaching assistants in effective instructional practices. She also extensive experience consulting with faculty, designing curricula, developing instructional materials, and leading outreach programs for K-12 and higher education settings.

With a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, Anza emphasizes the importance of strong communication skills in facilitating learning and motivating audiences to engage with material. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in active learning, learning by doing, and providing frequent opportunities for practice, ensuring that students develop practical, applicable communication skills.

Outside of work, Anza enjoys traveling to participate in runDisney races and has an impressive collection of medals and ear-headbands.

Anza is looking forward to helping students and researchers communicate their work effectively. She is most excited to help students develop their unique voices as communicators and find creative ways to make technical content accessible to diverse audiences.
