Dauren is a graduate student specializing in environmental monitoring and nuclear waste disposal. During his undergraduate studies, Dauren explored a spectrum of energy technologies, ranging from traditional to renewable, through coursework and research. He received his practical experience via an internship at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (LBNL), where he conducted numerical simulations to assess the long-term behavior of nuclear waste repositories. In particular, he focused on understanding the thermal-hydrological-chemical processes within the engineered barrier systems over millennia. Currently at MIT, Dauren is exploring the potential to harness untapped energy from high-level nuclear waste. Another focus of Dauren’s research is to analyze groundwater data from nuclear reprocessing and uranium mining sites to monitor long-term environmental contamination. In his free time, Dauren enjoys writing reflective poetry and listening to alternative rock music.
