Ivan is a PhD student working at the Plasma Science and Fusion Center in the Magnetic Fusion Energy-Integrated Modeling Group. His research involves application of machine learning methods to ensure that plasma physics simulations match experiment and are self-consistent in different regions of the plasma. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the MIT Physics Department in 2023, and has been with NSE since. Ivan is passionate about teaching and mentorship and has been very active on campus, working with the Interphase EDGE Program, the Physics Mentorship Program, the Physics Education Group, and in leadership positions with the Gymnastics Club, his fraternity, and the Interfraternity Council. Outside the office, you can find him at gymnastics practice, trying out new recipes, and working on personal projects.
