Lorne was a master’s student focused on the advancement of High Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactors. His thesis investigated the structural integrity of graphite fuel assemblies in a Horizontal Compact HTGR with Prof. Koroush Shirvan and Boston Atomics. Upon graduation, Lorne accepted a position as an engineer on the Reactor Systems team at Kairos Power, where he will continue supporting the near-term deployment of advanced reactors through structural design and analysis. His experience with the NSE Comm Lab taught him the importance of clear communication both within and beyond the field, for increasing public knowledge and wider acceptance of nuclear energy.
